1. How Huawei Collects and Uses Your Personal Information

Personal information means any information that enable Huawei to identify you as a user.

As part of the services we will collect and use your personal information only for the purposes stated in this statement.

To provide you with the service we need to collect and process your following information:

  • Identity information, including name, address, phone number(s), and email address for identification and verification of claims;
  • Payment details, including bank details for promotion fulfilment;
  • Transactional information, including receipts, invoices, serial numbers and IMEI numbers of devices for promotion fulfilment;
  • Network information, including IP address information, browser user agent and cookies for prevention of fraud and to enhance the website user experience.

Huawei will also process your data for the following purposes. You can always and at any moment object to such processing; please see section 4. Your Rights as a Data Subject, for details.

  • Analytics and development: we use Google Analytics to collect anonymous information, for reporting purposes and to allow us to understand website performance and to improve the quality of our promotions and inform future developments.
  • Security and fraud control: we use your identity, network information and cookies to verify claims and prevent fraud.

Huawei will process your data, including identity information and transaction information for accounting purposes and tax reporting as required by laws and regulations applicable to Huawei.

Subject to your consent, we use your email, mobile number and/or postal address to send you information about Huawei’s products and promotions. If you change your mind, you may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us via the ‘contact us’ form.

The personal information generated and collected from the European Economic Area is stored in the European Economic Area.

We retain your personal information for no longer than is necessary to achieve the stated purposes. After the period expires, we will delete or anonymize your personal information, unless otherwise required by laws and regulations.

In the Huawei promotion service, your personal data will be retained for a period of 6 years for accounting, tax and contract purposes.

3. Transfer and disclosure:

Huawei will transfer your identification information, payment details and network information outside of the EEA, to a service provider(s) operating under contract, and acting on behalf of Huawei Technologies (UK) Co., Ltd’s service provider operating the Huawei promotion website in the United Kingdom. Huawei complies with applicable legal requirements for providing adequate safeguards by transferring data to countries or organisations that the European Commission has determined will protect your data adequately, incorporating the standard model clauses to such transfer or, where such transfers are to the USA, by requiring such are under the US Privacy Shield. (2) Disclosure to a third party:

Your personal data will be provided to Opia Limited, Huawei Technologies (UK) Co., Ltd’s service provider operating the Huawei promotion website on its behalf.

Your personal data, identification information and payment details, will be provided to Bunzl Retail Supplies and Healthcare Supplies Limited (“MDA”), in order to fulfil and deliver the promotion to you.

Your personal data, identification information and payment details, will be provided National Westminster Bank PLC (NatWest), in order to fulfil and deliver the promotion, including making payments to you. NatWest may transfer data to countries outside of the European Economic Area (which includes countries in the European Union as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), but will only do so where: a) the European Commission has decided that the country or the organisation we are sharing your information with will protect your information adequately; b) the transfer has been authorised by the relevant data protection authority; and/or c) they have entered into a contract with the organisation with which they are sharing your information (on terms approved by the European Commission) to ensure your information is adequately protected. A copy of the relevant data protection clauses in the data transfer agreement between NatWest and the applicable third party is available on request by contacting Customer Service via the ‘contact us’ form on the website.

Your personal data, identification information and payment details, will be provided to aTech Media Limited, in order to provide customer service facilities to you, including transactional emails.

Your personal data, identification information, payment details and network information, will be provided to ThreatMetrix, Inc,, located in the USA, in order to prevent fraud. You may obtain a copy of the European Commission’s guide to the US Privacy Shield here.

Your personal data, identification information, payment details, transactional details and network information will be provided to Amazon Web Services Inc., in order to provide server and storage facilities in the European Economic Area, to support the Huawei Promotion website.

3. Cookies

A cookie is a text file stored by a web server on a computer or mobile device, and the content of a cookie can be retrieved and read only by the server that created the cookie. Cookies are unique to the browser or mobile application you are using. The text in a cookie often consists of identifiers, site names, and some numbers and characters.

Huawei stores cookies on computers or mobile devices for the purpose of improving user experience.

ThreatMetrix utilizes cookies and other shared objects (LSOs) to identify returning devices. Furthermore, ThreatMetrix ExactID technology uses several different types of cookies / LSOs in the profiling process rather than a single Flash or browser cookie used by alternative solutions.
